Rhinoplasty is a procedure performed at various ages to improve facial contours and functionality of the nose. While downtime is required for rhinoplasty, Dr. Stein expertly performs rhinoplasties and provides treatment plans that help ensure a smooth and safe recovery.

What Rhinoplasty Types Are Offered?

Stein Plastic Surgery offers various rhinoplasty options to address multiple concerns and customize your treatment based on your preferences. Dr. Stein provides open rhinoplasty, closed rhinoplasty, ethnic rhinoplasty, and revision rhinoplasty.

Open rhinoplasty involves a small z-shaped incision on the columella to allow Dr. Stein more access and visibility to the cartilage, bone, and tissue. Closed rhinoplasty has more limited vision and ability but has no visible scarring.

Ethnic rhinoplasty requires a skillful surgeon as it adjusts the nose while appearing natural for your ethnicity. Revision rhinoplasty readjusts the nose from a previous rhinoplasty that did not provide the results you desired.

How Long is Recovery from Rhinoplasty?

Initial recovery from rhinoplasty may only last 5-7 days. Most patients may return to work after a week; however, more strenuous jobs may require up to two weeks of downtime.

You may experience a gradual change in appearance over a few weeks as the tissue heals. Soft tissue may hold swelling longer than the rest of the tissue, sometimes lasting up to 3-4 weeks. You may experience bruising and tenderness on the cheeks for a week or two.

Dr. Stein will likely place splints inside the nose to protect its new shape, which will be removed after the first week. During your consultation, Dr. Stein will discuss your personalized recovery and treatment plan and any post-op instructions for healing.

What Results Can I Expect From Rhinoplasty?

Complete recovery may take several months to a year as your nose settles into place. Dr. Stein will discuss your individualized treatment and recovery plan during your consultation.

Depending on your concerns for rhinoplasty, you may experience a reduction in size, a smoother bump on the nose, refined tip or nostrils, repairs to broken or collapsed cartilage, or straightening of a deviated septum.

Should I Get a Rhinoplasty?

We recommend rhinoplasties to patients who want to improve their nose functionally or aesthetically. Candidates should be in good overall health with no severe medical conditions or illnesses that could affect recovery.

The best candidates are non-smokers with realistic expectations. If you do smoke, you will need to quit for a prolonged period to prevent complications during surgery and recovery.
