Do sagging eyelids or puffy undereye bags make you look tired or affect your confidence? An eyelid lift restores your alert, youthful eyes and boosts your confidence. This procedure can be performed on the upper lids, lower lids, or both to address your concerns and help you look refreshed and rejuvenated.

What is an Eyelid Lift or Blepharoplasty?

An eyelid lift or blepharoplasty is a procedure performed on the eyelids to correct issues like loose skin, a puffy appearance, and other signs of aging. It uses small incisions hidden in the crease of an eyelid to tighten skin, smooth wrinkles, and adjust fat pads to smooth undereye bags. Many people choose to have the upper and lower lids treated together for an overall more refreshed appearance.

How is an Eyelid Lift Performed?

An upper eyelid lift is typically performed using local anesthesia and sedation if desired. A lower eyelid lift is performed under twilight sedation. Dr. Stein is a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in facial features, including rejuvenation of the eye area. He will remove excess skin to tighten your eyelids, then remove or reposition pads of fat that can shift or become more visible as you age. Each blepharoplasty is customized to your unique needs.

What to Expect After an Eyelid Lift

Dr. Stein will monitor your progress throughout your blepharoplasty recovery. Most people have a quick, uncomplicated recovery with only minor discomfort. You can expect some swelling and bruising in the area that start to resolve after the first few days. Sleeping with your head elevated will improve fluid drainage, keeping you more comfortable and less swollen.

Most people return to work within a few days, and your sutures will be removed after a week. You can start adding strenuous exercise back into your routine after about two weeks. You can start seeing the results of your procedure after a few days as your swelling resolves. Results can last for many years, although you will see signs of aging return over time.

Am I a Good Candidate for an Eyelid Lift?

Individuals considering an eyelid lift should be in good health and have reasonable expectations. Good candidates want to address signs of aging affecting the upper or lower eyelids. While most healthy adults can have blepharoplasty, people with certain medical conditions may not be good candidates.

Can I Have Other Procedures With an Eyelid Lift?

You can choose to have an upper eyelid lift or lower eyelid lift alone, together, or with a range of other procedures. Many people combine blepharoplasty with a brow lift to complete their eye rejuvenation. You can also have this procedure with a facelift. Combining procedures does not extend your recovery time, making it an efficient way to achieve your goals.
