Lower Blepharoplasty: Results & Recovery

Because blepharoplasty is an outpatient procedure, you’ll be able to head home the same day. We typically recommend at least several days for rest and recovery. However, most patients are able to return to non-strenuous activities in just a few days. Side effects are minimal but may include redness, swelling, tenderness, or temporary blurred vision.

Initial results from lower eyelid surgery

Initial results from lower eyelid surgery can be seen shortly after your surgery. A more youthful-looking you will gradually emerge over 1-2 weeks as post-op swelling fully subsides. Eyelid surgery is a long-lasting procedure, and most patients only need one in a lifetime to maintain a naturally well-rested appearance.

Is Lower Blepharoplasty Right for You?

You may be a suitable candidate for lower eyelid surgery if you’re bothered by unwanted eye bags or puffiness under the eyes. Oftentimes the puffiness or bags under the eyes can cause dark shadows often referred to as dark circles under the eyes. Otherwise healthy adults with realistic expectations can benefit from the procedure. Although it is not absolutely necessary, it is recommended that patients quit smoking as far in advance of the procedure as possible.

Patients who also have baggy or puffy upper eyelids may also take advantage of combination blepharoplasty procedures. Dr. Stein will perform a full facial assessment and talk to you about your concerns. Afterward, he’ll customize a treatment plan to help you reach your end-goals.
