Do you dislike how your facial profile looks from the side because of a weak chin? While many don’t think twice about their chin, an under-projected chin can disrupt facial harmony. Chin implants are a customizable way to enhance your jawline.

What is Chin Augmentation?

Chin augmentation is a cosmetic procedure to enhance the chin by adding volume or reshaping it. Dr. Stein performs this procedure using chin implants. Also called genioplasty or mentoplasty, chin augmentation can create a more defined, balanced profile.

How Does Chin Implant Surgery Work?

Once you and Dr. Stein select the best chin implant, he will carefully insert it over your jawbone. Chin augmentation is an outpatient procedure taking around an hour under local anesthesia. A small, inconspicuous incision under the chin is made to place the implant.

What to Expect After Chin Augmentation

You may experience swelling and discomfort in your jaw for a few days. Recovery is typically quick, and most patients return to work and normal activities in about a week. Avoid strenuous activities or those that might impact the chin for a few weeks.

How Long Do Chin Implants Last?

Once swelling subsides, you’ll soon enjoy the benefits of your chin implant. Correcting a weak chin can significantly improve your profile and facial balance. Your chin augmentation results are permanent unless you choose removal. Chin implants are designed to last a lifetime and should remain stable if properly placed.

Am I a Good Candidate for Chin Implants?

If you are dissatisfied with your chin’s shape or projection, you may be a good candidate for chin augmentation. Candidates should be healthy and have realistic expectations. You may benefit from a chin implant if you:

  • Have a weak, under-projected chin
  • Want a stronger and more defined jawline
  • Have a narrow chin
  • Have a receding chin that creates a double chin appearance
  • Seek an improved facial profile and balanced features
