While signs of aging on your face may be the most obvious, loose skin and other issues around your neck can have a major impact on how young or old you look. A neck lift is performed to restore your slimmer, more sculpted neckline, giving you a more shapely profile and helping you feel more confident.

What is a Neck Lift?

If you have sagging neck skin, separated muscle bands, or accumulations of stubborn fat causing a double chin, a neck lift can help you achieve the more sculpted look you want. This procedure is the most effective way to address skin laxity, submental fat, and other issues. A neck lift can be performed alone or with other facial rejuvenation procedures for an overall more youthful appearance.

How is a Neck Lift Done?

A neck lift can be performed in different ways depending on your unique concerns. Incisions are small and well-disguised. Dr. Stein will tighten loose skin and underlying structures, repair the separated platysmal muscles that create neck bands, and reposition or remove fat to create a slimmer appearance. The muscle structures underlying the neck skin are restored to their proper attachment points, lifting the neck and jawline to a more sculpted position.

Dr. Stein, a board-certified facial plastic surgeon, has performed thousands of neck lifts, either alone or as part of a facelift, in his nearly three decades of facial surgery experience. His customized neck lift techniques address your specific concerns with the least invasive options for minimal scarring and maximum results.

Should I Have a Facelift or Neck Lift?

You were most likely drawn to a neck lift by concerns about loose skin and sagging. However, most people with loose neck skin also have laxity in the jowls and lower face. A neck lift and facelift are often performed together to create smooth, youthful contours. A combination of procedures gives you a stronger, more sculpted jawline, eliminates the appearance of jowls, and corrects deep lines and wrinkles around the mouth.

What is Recovery Like After a Neck Lift?

Neck lift recovery is generally straightforward. You can expect some swelling and discomfort for the first few days after the procedure, and your neck may feel light. People with low-activity jobs can return to work in one to two weeks. Dr. Stein will monitor your progress and determine when you have healed enough to resume your exercise routine.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Neck Lift?

Neck lifts are ideal for individuals bothered by loose skin, neck bands, and accumulated fat under the chin. Good candidates have reasonable expectations and no major health problems. Candidates should understand the risks and benefits of the procedure. You may not be a good candidate if you have certain medical conditions.
