Male Breast Reduction Gynecomastia
It can be very difficult for men to achieve a desirable shape to the chest area, despite even the most strenuous of exercise. The size and proportions of a man’s chest can be influenced by factors like diet, age and heredity. For some men, hormonal imbalances can result in an enlarged breast area, also known as gynecomastia. Gynecomastia can occur in one or both breasts, and it may occur as early as the teen years. Male breast reduction surgery can correct the condition of gynecomastia, resulting in a flatter, more toned and more symmetrical chest.
Male breast reduction surgery is typically performed as an outpatient procedure. During surgery, excess glandular tissue is removed and liposuction is used to vacuum out excess fat. Most patients can return to work within one to two weeks, though more strenuous physical activities will need to be postponed for two to four weeks. The results of male reduction can be permanent provided patients follow a healthy diet and moderate exercise after surgery.
