Forehead Lift Brow Lift
Aging is inevitable, and the effects of aging are often first seen in the brow and forehead area. Over time and through sun and wind exposure and the pull of gravity, the skin begins to lose its elasticity, resulting in wrinkles, frown lines and an increasingly heavy brow. While you may feel young and healthy inside, an aging brow and forehead area can make you appear tired or sad. Because of this, many people choose to undergo a forehead lift. The forehead lift, also known as a brow lift, is a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to smooth the forehead, lift the brows and upper eyelids, and minimize the appearance of frown lines and crow’s feet. The forehead lift may be performed on its own or in combination with a midface lift which can raise the tissues of the under-eye area and the upper cheeks.
Previous forehead lift techniques involved very large incisions which stretched from ear to ear. Though many surgeons still perform this technique today, it is associated with undesirable side effects like acute numbness of the scalp, hair loss at the incision site, an unnaturally raised hairline caused by the removal of a large amount of hair bearing skin, and results which tend to be fleeting in duration.
Fortunately, there have been new minimally-invasive techniques developed to address these concerns, including the endoscopic brow lift and the midface lift. With these techniques, Dr. Stein can perform a forehead lift or a midface lift through tiny incisions which are concealed within the hair. TV monitors and telescopes are then used to visualize the procedure as Dr. Stein carefully sculpts, shapes and repositions the brows and / or the upper cheeks. The upper eyelids, forehead and under-eye tissues are rejuvenated. Dr. Stein can also remove some of the frown muscles located between the eyebrows, dramatically reducing the appearance of furrows between the eyebrows and softening horizontal forehead creases. The endoscopic forehead and midface lift can also significantly improve the appearance of crow’s feet.
