Arm Liposuction Lipo or Lipoplasty
The upper arms can be a challenging area of the body for many people, an area that refuses to tone up despite one’s best attempts at diet and exercise. Arm liposuction is a surgical procedure which can provide a more sculpted, streamlined appearance to the arms and allow you to wear strapless dresses with confidence once again.
Arm liposuction is typically performed as an outpatient procedure. There are several different techniques that may be used, including the tumescent technique and ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL). For tumescent liposuction, a solution containing saline and local anesthesia is injected into targeted fat cells, preparing the fat for removal by causing it to become swollen or ‘tumesced’. A small incision is made in an unobtrusive spot and excess fat is loosened and vacuumed out. With ultrasound-assisted liposuction, or UAL, a probe and sound waves are used to first liquefy the fat prior to its removal. Most patients are able to return to work within one to two weeks, though more physical activities may need to be postponed for two to four weeks. The results of arm liposuction can be permanent provided patients follow a healthy diet and moderate exercise after surgery.
