Fraxel Laser Rejuvenation For the repair of aging and sun-damaged skin
Today’s emphasis on healthy living has many people feeling younger than they are. Unfortunately, that youthful inner feeling doesn’t always match one’s exterior appearance. Wrinkles, fines lines, brown spots, and aging and sun-damaged skin can all make a person appear older than they are and older than they feel. Fortunately, men and women alike now have a chance to turn back the clock on aging with a new aesthetic laser solution.
We are proud to be one of the first practices worldwide to offer the Fraxel Laser Treatment, a new science developed at Harvard University’s Wellman Laboratories in conjunction with breakthrough technology from Reliant. The Fraxel Laser improves both the top layers of skin as well as the deeper layers, eliminating wrinkles around the eyes and pigmented lesions like age spots and sun spots while also boosting the supporting tissue to promote softer, smoother and tighter skin.
The Fraxel Laser treatment is similar to a high-quality restoration or touch-up of a family portrait or digital photograph. A damaged painting is delicately restored one section at a time and a photographic image may be altered pixel by pixel. In the same way, the Reliant Fraxel Laser improves the skin’s appearance using thousands of microscopic laser sports that affect only a fraction of the skin at a time. Think of it as digital photo software for the skin.
According to Dr. Stein, “The unique ‘fractional’ approach is a huge step forward in providing significant cosmetic results with no downtime. This advanced treatment is the first cosmetic laser to provide an effective, gradual procedure that creates new healthy tissue by stimulating the body to naturally repair aging and photo-damaged skin without significant risks or recovery time.”
The FDA has cleared the Reliant Fraxel Laser for the treatment of wrinkles around the eyes and pigmented lesions like sun spots and age spots. The procedure is a simple in-office treatment which uses topical anesthesia and takes about thirty minutes to complete. The skin is not ablated nor are the outer layers removed, allowing patients to immediately return to their normal activities. The skin may appear pinkish for five to seven days and minor swelling can occur for about two days.
The best results are often achieved with three to five treatments spaced one to two weeks apart. Results are immediate and continued improvement will occur for one to three months after treatment.
